Our Produce

Take a look at some of our produce

We primarily sell our produce at local farmer's markets, listed below. And, throughout our growing season, we often have produce at our roadside stand. We post updates on our J&S Farms Facebook page when we have items in our stand.

When scheduled, we also welcome you to come by the farm in person if you can’t wait to see us at the market and are picking up a larger than normal quantity of our produce. We totally understand when you have vegetable emergencies. Whether you pay for fruits and vegetables at the farm or one of the markets below, we take cash, credit cards or EBT/Snap.

Our orchard

We have a variety of fruit trees.

Apple – One of our favorites is the red delicious apple, its good for eating right from the tree or turning into applesauce. And of course, in the fall, we turn these apples into cider. We sell our cider at the same venues we offer our fruits and vegetables.

Cherry – We grow sweet cherries, perfect for everything from pies, turnovers and tarts to the top of your ice cream sundae.

Nectarine – We love these in cobbler, or cut up and grilled with a drizzle of honey. Our orchard has both white and yellow nectarines.

Peach – We love our peaches! White or yellow, doesn’t matter to us, you can eat them fresh or can them so you have them for the harsh Michigan Winter. There are a few of our favorite varietals in the orchard – Madison, Flamin’ Fury® and Redhaven.

In our dirt

We plant year round, growing many of our vegetables from seed. We also have a polytunnel, more commonly known as a hoop house. This allows us to grow more aggressively in our harsher Michigan weather. As an example, in Spring 2014 it allowed us to have an impressive broccoli crop in March!

In the spring our season kicks off with asparagus, broccoli, radishes, beans, swiss chard, kohlrabi, rhubarb, and onions. Through the summer we enjoy cherries, peas, cucumbers, potatoes, corn, cauliflower, tomatoes, peaches and watermelon. And our fall is filled with acorn squash, pumpkins, butternut squash, brussels sprouts, apples, and our award winning cider.
